Frequently Asked Questions
If you don’t see your question below, feel free to contact me.
How do payments work?
I generally require payments upfront, but payment plans are available depending on need. Payment plans will require 50% upfront and 50% upon completion of work.
If I am currently booked, you can submit a deposit of $50 to reserve your spot in line. This deposit will go towards your final payment.
All payments are made through Stripe and are non-refundable.
What does your process look like?
I use Microsoft Word’s Track Changes and Comments features for editing.
Once my work is complete, I’ll send two copies of your edited manuscript: a marked-up version showing all edits/comments, and a clean copy with all edits accepted.
I recommend having both copies up during review so you can see the edited work and final product side-by-side.
What genres do you edit?
For manuscripts, I edit both fiction and non-fiction works. My specialties include speculative fiction, adventure fiction, poetry, YA, NA, children’s books, memoirs, and self-help, but I accept most genres.
I do not accept horror, thriller, true crime, or any works with gratuitous violence.
Do you offer rush options?
Rarely. Due to the nature of this work and the diligence required, I typically do not offer rush options.
I may allow for exceptions depending on the length of the manuscript and the extent of edits required.
Rush fees start at $100 in addition to the base editing price.
Do you offer sample edits?
Yes, I can provide a sample edit upon request (for manuscripts only).
For sample edits, I will edit up to one page of your manuscript. The sample edit will include line editing and copy editing; it will not include a developmental critique.
I do not provide sample edits for non-manuscripts (e.g., business documents, application essays, resumes, etc.) due to the length of these documents.
How long will editing take?
The timeframe for editing will depend on the length of your manuscript, the extent of edits required, and my current workload.
I am often booked out weeks—or sometimes months—in advance, and the editing process can take anywhere from one week to two months, depending on the manuscript.
If you’re ready for editing, it’s important to speak with an editor early and reserve your spot in line. Contact me today to get started!
